KALEB DU'MORTE

Kaleb is Kingsley's Lieutenant, and has been in Kingsley's elite team of Survivors for longer than anyone except for K'Washi, and Kingsley himself (See K'Washi Mbadala, Kingsley Mont-Callahie, Survivors).  The son of Kingsley's best friend Khothos Du'Morte, Kaleb had the best training available anywhere, having both his father, a Royal Weapons Trainer from the Kingdom of Tusk, and Kingsley, who had Royal Clan training, and years of fighting against the undead.  Kaleb has an uncanny knack of learning through observation, so his skill is always improving to meet that of his trainers and foes.  He also has fantastic agility and an amazing awareness of his surroundings, which helps phenomimally on a crowded battlefield.

Kaleb was present when his father died protecting him and Numa, Kingsley's daughter, from a group of Undead Elite, and that vision has driven him ever since (See Numa Mont-Callahie, Undead Elite).

Kaleb absolutely hates Lazarus (see Lazarus).  There are many reasons for this, but the leading reasons are: during some of Lazarus' darker incarnations, he killed many Survivors, and among them Kaleb's best friend Darron; during his last couple incarnations, Lazarus has been getting more and more friendly with Numa, who Kaleb has been in love with for as long as he's known her -- and she appears to like it; and Lazarus is the only person who has ever beaten him in combat numerous times.  Now that it looks like Lazarus and the Survivors are becoming more and more inseparable, Kaleb has been spiraling deeper and deeper into dark moods and bitter thoughts.

Kaleb has had the skill and experience to lead his own group of Survivors for quite a few years, and Kingsley has even approached him about it many times, but Kaleb knows that Numa would never leave her father's team, and thus he, too, stays on Kingsley's team.  Which is fortunate, because he brings a great advantage to the elite team, and has been the pivotal factor of many battles.

Having been close to Numa for so many years, being Kingsley's right hand man, and because of many suggestive interactions between himself and Numa, Kaleb has believed in his heart that he and Numa are destined to be together, so her flirtations with Lazarus rub him painfully like sandpaper on his heart.

His single-minded devotion towards Numa has blinded him to the affections of another of the elite Survivors, Ayame, who feels for him as strongly as he feels for Numa.  This, naturally, causes a number of underlying tensions within the group, which is not a good thing for a group that has to remain focused on fighting a seemingly endless foe.
