KINGSLEY

Kingsley Mont-Callahie has been fighting the Lords of the Dead for longer than anyone else on the Paragos Continent (see Lords of the Dead).  It was his kingdom that the Lords fell upon when they arrived in this land, and Kingsley and his young daughter Numa were the only ones to escape (see Numa Mont-Callahie).  On that night, he lost his wife and elder brother, King Divinius, and made a solemn vow to fight the Lords until he had either achieved victory, or met his death.

It has been a dozen years since that vow, and nobody has done more to hinder the advance of the undead armies than Kingsley and his Survivors.  Scouring the land for Ancient relics and weapons from Ages past, the Survivors have become a powerful force, and are one of the few things that the soulless undead fear.

Kingsley's opinion of Lazarus has changed from deep hatred to grudging respect (see Lazarus).  His first encounters with Lazarus were times when the Lords held sway over Lazarus' soul, and he ripped through the Survivors like a crazed dervish, killing until he was killed in turn by Kingsley (in fact, nobody has killed Lazarus more times than Kingsley).  However, with his later incarnations, Lazarus has proven himself a good ally, and at times maybe even honorable.  But each incarnation is different, and Kingsley has chosen to treat each as an individual.  The darker incarnations fall to his blade, and the noble ones fight at his side.

Kingsley gathered his Survivors after a prophetic dream that left him shaking and in fear of what was to come.  It is believed that he even saw the end of the war, and the part his Survivors and Lazarus would play in its final days.  And it was enough to make him weep for the first time since his wife died at the hands of the undead on the first night of their invasion.  He knew who he was looking for, and when he met them, he won them over to his cause.  Many brave warriors have died fighting for the cause of the Survivors and life, and many more will die before the end of the war.

It is also believed that Kingsley dreamed of his own death, and that that day is looming just over the horizon.  But only Kingsley knows for sure.
